Theophany 2025

We had a beautiful celebration of Theophany in our parish. Despite the harsh weather, togather with our brothers and sisters from the Greek Orthodox Church of Ss. Constantine & Helen in Reading, PA, we blesed the Wyomissing Creek on the Feastday following Liturgy.

Glory be to God!

"The voice of the Lord is upon the waters crying: Come, one and all, receive the Spirit of wisdom, the Spirit of understanding, the Spirit of the fear of God, from Christ Who now has shone forth!
Today the nature of the waters is sanctified: The Jordan is parted in two. It holds back the flow of its waters, as it beholds the washing of the Master."

Patronal Feastday, Venerable Herman of Alaska - Dec 13, 2024

Our parish celebrated its patronal Feastday, Venerable Herman of Alaska, the Wonderworker off all America on Friday, Dec 13, 2024. Great Vespers with Litiya was celebrated on the Eve of the Feast, followed by Divine Liturgy the next day.

We were happy to welcome clergy from our Deanery, Archpriest Timothy H. and Archpriest Steven V., as well as clergy from the Greek Orthodox Church in Reading, Archpriest Theodor P. and Priest Emmanuel M. We are also grateful for having with us other visitors from the area, who joined us in our celebration. Special gratitude goes to our parishioners who labored hard in order to make this event possible.

In his homily, Fr. Timothy especially reflected on the selfless love of Venerable Herman, his simplicity and humility. Though he never sought his own glory, he was greatly elevated and glorified, according to the word of Christ: “He that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” (Mt 23, 12) Thus, St. Herman became an example for all Orthodox Christians in Americas.

Glory be to God for this glorious day! Through the prayers of our venerable father Herman, O Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us!

St. Alexis Toth Brotherhood, the Diocesan Men’s Group, held its second gathering on Saturday, Nov 02, 2024 at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, Mechanicsburg, PA.

The group was first addressed by Protodeacon Peter Skoog - importance of fellowship and the mission of the brotherhood was discussed. This group is open for men of all ages who desire to build relationships with other Orthodox men, seek spiritual growth, look for a deeper knowledge of our faith, as well as ways how to better serve our parishes, diocese and the Orthodox Church in general.

Then we had dinner together, which was followed by the Great Vespers. After Vespers Fr. Timothy Hojnicki did a lecture on the Orthodox view of politics, “The Lord is King.”

The group is grateful to Fr. Timothy and the faithful of Holy Apostles Church for hosting this gathering, and for the lecture.
